What Are the Known ANZ Credit Card Statement Challenges?
We haven't processed a ANZ credit card statement yet, but based on their bank statements we've seen, here are formatting challenges we handle for ANZ:
Amount on Continuation Row
ANZ statements place the date and description on one row, but the transaction amount appears on the next row. We detect rows that start with a date as new transactions and merge the amount from the following row.
Currency Only Shown in Column Header
ANZ Bank statements display the currency symbol only in the column header, not with each amount. We track the currency context throughout the statement to ensure all amounts are properly labeled with the correct currency.
Missing Year in Dates
Australia and New Zealand Banking Group statements omit the year from transaction dates (e.g., "15/03" instead of "15/03/2025"), which makes it impossible to sort or reconcile without guessing. We infer the correct year from the statement period and surrounding context.
