We haven't seen a UOB bank statement yet, but based on statements from other Malaysian banks we've processed, here are common challenges we handle:
Missing Year in Dates
Many Malaysian statements omit the year from transaction dates (e.g., "15/03" instead of "15/03/2025"), which makes it impossible to sort or reconcile without guessing. We infer the correct year from the statement period and surrounding context.

No Selectable Text (Scanned PDF)
Many Malaysian statements are often image-based PDFs with no selectable text, so copy-paste and standard PDF extractors return nothing useful. We use OCR and visual language models to read the page content and extract transactions accurately.
