Common German Statement Challenges
We haven't seen an ING bank statement yet, but based on statements we've processed, here are common challenges we handle:
Currency Symbols Breaking Numeric Parsing
Many German statements embed currency symbols (e.g., "$1,234.56") directly in amount cells, which breaks numeric parsing in Excel and most CSV importers. We strip these symbols so amounts import as clean numbers.

Multiple Dates per Transaction
Many German statements show multiple dates per transaction (transaction date, posting date, value date), and it is not always obvious which one to use for bookkeeping. We consistently extract the posting date so your records match your bank balance.

Running Balance Cross-Check
Many German statements include a running balance column that most converters ignore. Without validating it, missing or duplicate transactions go undetected. We extract this balance and cross-check it against opening/closing balances to ensure every transaction is accounted for.
