Currency Only Shown in Column Header
CIBC statements display the currency symbol only in the column header, not with each amount. We track the currency context throughout the statement to ensure all amounts are properly labeled with the correct currency.
Transactions Split Across Multiple Tables
Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce statements split transactions into separate tables by type (deposits, withdrawals, checks, online transfers, etc.), each with different column layouts. Manually merging these into a single timeline is tedious and error-prone. We combine all tables into one chronological list while preserving transaction type information.
Missing Year in Dates
CIBC statements omit the year from transaction dates (e.g., "15/03" instead of "15/03/2025"), which makes it impossible to sort or reconcile without guessing. We infer the correct year from the statement period and surrounding context.
Multiple Dates per Transaction
These statements show multiple dates per transaction (transaction date, posting date, value date), and it is not always obvious which one to use for bookkeeping. We consistently extract the posting date so your records match your bank balance.
